About the organization
Founded by Dr. Massoud Wheda, the American Libyan School (AMLY) is a premier K–12 educational institution located in Souq Juma, Tripoli. The name AMLY is derived from the Arabic word Aml (أمل), meaning My Hope, embodying the school's foundational narrative: "My hope for my family, our hope for our country".
Guided by the motto "Critical thinkers, confident leaders," AMLY exists to find and develop exceptional young minds who can confidently lead Libya toward a prosperous future. The school delivers a US-accredited curriculum based on Common Core standards—with dual accreditation from the Libyan Ministry of Education and Cognia (California, USA)—thoughtfully adapted to honor Libyan cultural traditions.
