Clinical Perfusionist I

Responsibilities

• Prepare and calibrate heart-lung equipment, blood pumps, oxygenators and temperature-control devices, ensuring equipment remains functional before, during and after procedures.
• Operate the perfusion circuit and regulate flow, oxygenation and temperature. Monitor hemodynamics and adjust support to changing patient conditions.
• Troubleshoot equipment and respond quickly to intraoperative emergencies to protect circulation and patient stability.
• Coordinate closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists and the wider surgical team, providing live clinical feedback and recommendations about circuit adjustments.
• Document blood flow, oxygenation and other perfusion measurements accurately and maintain complete records according to hospital procedures and regulations.
• Assist withdrawal from bypass and transition to normal cardiovascular function, monitoring stability throughout.
