About the institution
The Law Society of Libya is a non-profit civil society organization, founded on 22 February 2022, dedicated to building Libya's digital legal infrastructure.
Libya's legal heritage spans over 75 years — legislation, Supreme Court rulings since 1964, and international treaties — much of which was scattered, hard to access, or at risk of being lost. We are digitizing these sources and have introduced persistent document identifiers. Our next steps include source PDFs and structured legal XML using the Akoma Ntoso (AKN) standard, so the texts can be exchanged and processed more reliably.
Free and open to all. Legislative texts are completely free. Built from the ground up for the Arabic language.
To ensure the continuous development and sustainability of this national project, we are developing a set of advanced features and tools that will be available through carefully designed memberships and subscriptions — while legislative texts remain completely free, always.
