Open “Messages” from the envelope icon at the top of the page. It holds your conversations with employers whose jobs you applied to and with the jobs.ly team, newest first. Each application has one conversation.
Who starts the conversation
- Usually the employer. Their latest message shows under your application in My jobs → “Applied”, with “Open the conversation”.
- If your application is still in progress and the employer hasn't written to you yet, press “Write to the employer”. You can write one message now, and write again once the employer answers.
- When you write to us from the Contact page while signed in, you'll also find our answer in “Messages”.
When you're told
If you haven't read a message a few minutes after it arrives, we email you, or send a notification to your device if you turned notifications on. Messages are never announced by text message.
Stopping and closed conversations
- Press “Stop this conversation” if you don't want new messages, and “Resume the conversation” to go back to it.
- A conversation closes as soon as you withdraw your application, and also some time after the application or the job ends.
Safety
Real employers never ask you for money. If someone asks for money or a message looks like a scam, press “Report” under it. The jobs.ly team reads an application's conversation only when a message in it is reported.
